I was born in Richmond, Virginia and fell in love with music at an early age. I saw a band playing in the park one day and I was so impressed by the drummer. He was having so much fun and the band sounded great.. I knew at that moment that this was what I wanted to do. I became a drummer. I was only 10 years old , but the joy of playing music was in my soul. I was hooked.
My family moved to Los Angeles, and I attended Foshy Junior High School, I took piano lessons and fell in love with keyboards. Upon graduation High School, I played in various bands in and around Los Angeles. I recently played with the Smooth Connection Band, and I am presently the Keyboard player for the Tony Boone Project.

Dr. Rueban McCain
Ruben McCain, born in Los Angeles, CA, discovered his love for drumming at an early age, receiving his first drum kit around six years old. By the age of nine, he was playing in church, setting the stage for a lifelong passion for music. A self-taught drummer, his foundation was rooted in R&B, but his influences expanded across Jazz, Funk, Rock, Fusion, and Blues. Playing with various local music groups, he honed his craft by studying and listening to drummers from diverse genres.
Whether performing live or recording in the studio, Ruben embraces the challenge of "playing what's right for the song," a mindset that continues to shape his style and versatility as a musician.
